I am involved in multiple research projects analysing how leukaemia cells interact with the tumour microenvironment to survive. These projects aim to gain a better understanding of leukaemia and identify targets for use in therapy. In addition to this role I have responsibilities in ensuring the laboratory is equipped with research equipment, reagents and consumables. On starting this position I set up the research laboratory with all equipment to begin research. I am in charge of all research budgets and ordering for the laboratory, I liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to generate quotations and purchase orders, and produce monthly audits of orders. I have experience in looking after Flow Cytometers as the facility manager for our floor, looking after the bookings for our machines, keeping check of stock and conducting routine repairs and maintenance. I oversaw our laboratory move to the new Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre. For this I contributed at departmental biological safety meetings and ensured our groups needs were taken into consideration. I completed a PhD studentship with Professor Shu Ye, with co-supervision by Professor Kairbaan Hodivala-Dilke, investigating hypoxia and neovascularisation in atherosclerotic plaques.
