• Architected a service-oriented system known as Red Pill for managing newspaper content. Designed to scale for managing content of over 200 websites using small reusable services.• Architected and developed a Flex-based application to manage content in the Red Pill architecture, managed four developers working on the framework I developed. The system had a desktop-like feel, and allowed users to manage the content of all the newspaper systems.• Managed a small team of developers including administering reviews and providing developer training. Mentored junior developers and provided guidance senior level developers.• Architected and developed a JavaScript toolkit so developers could quickly write ‘widgets’ using JQuery to talk to the Red Pill architecture• Wrote a system to generally handle any data that the newspaper wished to manage, called Tabula. Wrote a Flex interface that was spreadsheet like and worked with developers using Ruby to manage content.• Responsible for code reviews as well as system architecture reviews.

• Lead efforts in automated maintenance, backups and tuning of over 20 production MySQL machines, 10 web-servers and 30 other assorted development & production machines• Evangelized, managed and verified the upgrade from MySQL 4 to 5.• Wrote numerous scripts (Perl, Bash, PHP) to automate manual processes.• Worked with both the technology group (Systems Administrators, DBA’s) and the support team (web developers, support developers and client developers) for training.• Worked on a Perl-based system (Site Manager) which managed over 100 websites. I focused on the Apache configuration manager.• Audited code written by multiple newspaper development teams, assuring quality code was released to the systems. Handled security related issues as well as performance issues both in reviews and production.
