This 12-month fellowship brought together a small set of higher ed leaders from around the country to work closely with pathfinders in the private sector, sharing ideas and cultivating practices to drive new innovations in higher education. Our collaborators and mentors were drawn from established organizations like Apple, Facebook, Khan Academy, Berkeley, Stanford, The Long Now Foundation, the University Innovation Alliance, and WeWork, as well as a thoughtfully curated set of consultants, technologists, startup founders, non-profit leaders, and (for good measure) an entrepreneurial brewery or two.Topically, we studied emerging models of product, program, service, and innovation design across several industries, surfacing key insights and adapting them experimentally through iterative projects within our home institutions. It was a year of fascinating and compelling work.
