I am a biochemist and have previously described a new type of small RNA molecule derived from the 5' end of tRNA. I currently work at King's College London on the molecular biology of HIV-1 virus assembly. I have delivered talks and presented posters at international conferences, including the Cold Spring Harbor Retroviruses meeting in May 2013.I enjoy science communication, and currently work with The Brilliant Club to bring a passion for science to school-age children. As a Brilliant Club tutor, I design tutorial programmes from scratch based on current research and deliver them in schools to small groups of high ability pupils from lower socio-economic backgrounds. Ultimately the pupils complete a final written assignment which I design and mark. I have worked with KS4 & KS5 pupils and will be conducting tutorials with KS3 pupils in Autumn 2015.In my spare time I enjoy being outdoors and often go hillwalking, mountaineering and rock-climbing. I am working towards my Mountain Leader qualification in order to lead groups in the British mountains. I also enjoy theatre and have a significant amateur technical theatre background - particularly lighting design!
