Governance & Management Researcher
Leicester, England, United Kingdom
In my role as a doctoral and post-doctoral researcher at De Montfort University, I was responsible for project managing a 4-year qualitative research enquiry investigating multinational enterprises, territorial governance and innovation networks from conception to publication. I also collaborated on an international research project investigating urban governance models. My PhD research, for which I received a scholarship in 2012 and a doctoral degree in 2016, is one of my proudest achievements. This experience taught me valuable skills in research design, academic project management, data collection and analysis, critical thinking and problem-solving. In this role I was responsible for drawing up a detailed research proposal, defining research objectives and stipulating and defending my choice of research methods. I was also responsible for setting measurable boundaries for the research and defending the proposed impact and benefits of the research for practitioners and academia. This experience also enabled me to develop project management skills such as; setting, and sticking to, a budget and time-frame, as well as, planning and organising interview schedules for the collection of data. It furthermore helped me to develop qualitative data analysis skills both manually and through the use of data analysis software. In this role and through the publication of a doctoral thesis, I was particularly able to enhance my writing, editing, proofreading, presentation and communication skills, particularly through writing up preliminary findings and presenting them at international conferences. My experience as a post-doctoral researcher, furthermore, gave me the opportunity to collaborate with researchers in an international research team, as well as, coordinate and lead the team’s field research in France, ensuring that project objectives were met within prescribed time-frames.
