Shift Operations Manager at British Sugar, Newark Factory, Beet Sugar Refinery. The role involves managing all processes within the sugar beet refinery process from beet intake through to carbonatation, crystallisation, manufacture of animal feeds pellets and the generation of electricity and steam using a 10MW Power Plant. The operational team comprises of 15 people consisting of laboratory, mechanical, electrical and process technicians and my duties includes team development (Graduate and process trainees), Health & Safety compliance for an ATEX/ DSEAR rated site, Food safety Management through GMP & BRC, engineering permit authoriser and process improvements using lean principles. Identified and implemented numerous minor process improvement projects in various areas of the factory including the Dry Lime Pressing process efficiency iniatives and PUWER capital installation. Instrumental in progressing Newark site through its Dross Reduction programme that has seen waste associated with Kiln operations reduced significantly.
