Andy Cooper is the Managing Director of GE Vernova's Power Conversion business, UK, headquartered in Rugby. He is also the Global Marine leader for Power Conversion.He joined the company in 1984 as a Technician Apprentice. Upon completing a four year apprenticeship Andy moved into Project Management, managing a series of large projects before moving into Operations management. He has ten years’ experience in the steel processing industry and twenty plus years’ experience in the Merchant, Offshore and Naval sectors of Marine. Upon being acquired by GE in 2012 Andy led the Global Marine Service business achieving 100% growth over a four year period, opening up service offices in a number of new regions and broadening the business scope.In 2016 Andy moved roles to lead the Projects and Services business for UK and India regions as the business moved to a functional organisation, taking responsibility for the full portfolio of Projects and Services businesses in the UK and India.In 2018 Andy became the Operations Directors for the UK and APAC, as Power Conversion re-organised into regional P&L’s, and in November 2018 was promoted to Managing Director.In 2019 Andy also took on the Global Marine leader role in addition to his UK role.Andy believes in vocational training as it served him well. During his apprenticeship he gained a Higher National Certificate in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and in his early career gained Honours and then Masters in Business Studies.
