Responsible for strategic planning, design, and implementation, of curriculum and programming, quality control, assessment, and training/mentoring of staff for the Teacher Institute including summer sessions, seminars, on and offsite workshops and distance learning programs/webinars. Develops, coordinates, implements, and delivers national Colonial Williamsburg professional development programs and services for K-16 teachers, that are historically accurate, meet national history standards, creatively engage teachers in the study and teaching of American history and social studies, and advance new education program initiatives that align with the Foundation’s strategic objectives. Assists in developing educational materials for teacher training programs in a variety of media that will help teachers transfer their experiences at Colonial Williamsburg to the classroom and their students. Works in partnership with Development staff to provide stewardship for support of Teacher Institute programs.

Develops, coordinates, implements and delivers national Colonial Williamsburg professional development programs that are historically accurate, meet national social studies standards, and creatively engage learners in the study and teaching of social studies. Professional development Teacher Institute, on and off-site workshops, conferences and online learning programs for K-16 teachers and lifelong learners. • Plans, develops, and delivers online learning.• Develops curriculum materials and conducts teacher training programs that use creative and state-of-the-art teaching strategies and media.• Conducts research on various topics to produce educational materials in a variety of media for teachers.• Directs summer program staff to ensure the highest quality experience for teachers.• Makes decisions concerning daily operations of the Colonial Williamsburg Teacher Institute and on- and off-site workshops and conferences, including educational programs, classroom space, meals, hotel and transportation reservations, and admission tickets.• Serves as a trainer for peer teachers, summer program staff and interns.• Models and evaluates exceptional and effective teaching strategies and interpretive techniques.• Evaluates interpretive and program quality and provides feedback and makes recommendations to the Manager of Teacher Development Programming.• Develops and maintains relationships with school district representatives, partnership contacts, donors, teachers, Colonial Williamsburg employees, and outside organizations.• Leads team meetings with program development staff, teachers, and summer staff.• Solves problems related to all aspects of professional development programs, both on and off-site, including logistical and performance issues and personal issues among teachers participants.
