About Andy Grant

I am currently Head of Education at Sunderland Foundation of Light. In this position I am responsible for our 'education & sports' programmes delivered in secondary and post-compulsory education. I have a range of experiences working in a variety of positions in sport organisations including Sunderland AFC and Chelsea FC Youth Academies, the FA, UK Coaching (formerly Sports Coach UK) and Liverpool John Moores University Sport Science Centre. I worked for 13 years with UK Coaching providing technical consultancy to a range of organisations including high performance and charities. I managed the UK coach qualifications programme (UKCC) and was the UK representative on the EU Expert Group on Human Resource Development in Sport, influencing the European Work Plan for Sport 2017-20 and creating a network of sporting agencies across all 28 Member States. Latterly I held the position of Head of Coach Education at UK Coaching, leading a team of staff and promoting a culture of continuous improvement across the department. I have qualifications in coaching, education and business and am passionate about lifelong learning.
