Working in the marine renewables industry at Wavegen for over six years I have developed strong design skills, taking designs from selection of concept to manufacture then implementation at a remote test site. This development work has involved working both autonomously and as part of a small team during which I have written initial specifications, carried out design calculations, performed finite element analysis and prepared drawings for manufacture.I have worked with FMEAs and Risk Assessments as an integral part of the design process. As designs near completion I have been involved in the preparation of method statements and risk assessments for use at a remote test site. I often had the opportunity to manage and take part in site visits and carry out installation work and experiments. Site work often included setting up of instrumentation and fault-finding of sensors, working from electrical drawings.Key skills: - Turbine Design - Mechanical Design - Stress analysis - Finite Element Analysis - Specification writing - Installation & Commissioning (planning, supervision & hands-on)
