We are developing an entirely new type of wave energy converter. Rather than large blocks of rigid structure focusing huge loads down onto a monolithic generator and drivetrain, we are designing a flexible structure made up of thousands of active generating cells. These cells are mass-manufacturable using the same techniques used to produce well-established items like pouch cell batteries, flexible electronics and food packaging, presenting a real opportunity to significantly reduce the capex of the device compared to traditional wave energy converter design.
