SoLead Energy is developing a safe, sustainable, affordable flow battery for longer-duration stationary energy storage.
Our technology stores energy in lead dissolved in a stable, water-based electrolyte so there is no risk of thermal runaway.
Our electrolyte is manufactured directly from spent lead acid batteries providing a stable, abundant, environmentally friendly source of materials. At end of life, these materials can be returned to existing lead-acid recycling processes.
Once at scale, we are aiming for a price of just £50 per kWh.
