Yes, I am a tester. And that means I test software, typically web apps, web sites, and mobile apps. But it goes beyond that, even beyond the behind the scenes services such as APIs. It involves scrutinizing documents with a critical eye, looking for risk in implementation or design changes, and most of all, asking questions. My professional experience includes testing as part of a team, being the sole tester on projects and managing a team of testers. But I also enjoy interacting with others in the testing community to learn more about the craft, and there's always more.To me, testing means to help teams find important problems that the team cares about, thinking critically about the system before me to help evaluate the technical implementation, design and the 'ities' (like security, usability, compatibility and accessibility). It also means taking into account the context of the team and project, providing the level and type of testing that is desired and appropriate. No two projects are exactly alike so testing (and testers) should likewise adapt to each.
