Are you a parent of a young person (aged 16-20)? Do you feel concerned about their prospects for the future or how they are feeling about themselves? Are they unsure of: - who they are? - what they want to do? - what they want to become? - or how they can make the most of their unique gifts and abilities? Do you want them to grow into the strongest, best and most contented version of themselves, ready for anything the future brings? If so I can help. I am a coach who specialises in supporting young people – providing the safe space and the opportunity to be listened to, to be understood, to use their knowledge, passions and expertise to explore all their options and to determine their own way forward. For over twenty years, I have been supporting the academic, personal, social and emotional growth of hundred of students on three continents, as an instructor, counsellor, teacher and senior leader in education. Getting through to young people always starts with meeting with them where they are: genuine listening and understanding. If this is done, they are willing to be vulnerable, to offer their ideas, to explore the pros and cons and to have the courage and confidence to make a choice. Now, more than ever, young people need this to navigate the many uncertainties of the world we live and how things will continue to change in the future. The statistics on young people’s mental health is well documented and coaching can be used to preserve and enhance positive mental health. Many young people also feel highly pressurised by GCSEs and ‘A’ Levels while many parents and businesses feel that young people leave education unprepared for work or life. For growing young people beyond what they learn at school, coaching is a powerful option for young people and their parents because it puts the young person in the driving seat. They are trusted to control the conversation: it’s their agenda, no-one else’s and from this they find the answers and the actions that will work for them.
