I am a research group leader and senior lecturer in the physics department at Lancaster University.For the last ~20 years, I have worked in optoelectonic semiconductor research. I have extensive experience leading research teams in a wide range of acitivities including modelling, design, epitaxial growth, cleanroom fabrication, device characterisation and knowledge transfer. My particular field of specialism is narrow bandgap materials and infrared light detectors / emitters, for a broad range of applications.My research team of PhD students and research associates develop innovative devices and output world leading advances in our field. We work extensively with industrial partners to take these advances through to applied technology.From my early career in the the automotive sector I am a chartered electronic engineer, with wide ranging experience within a large company and a track record in leading product development.
