Resident Technician
CurrentI have worked for capital theatres for 30 years, starting as a casual member of staff and becoming full time in 2013. My main job is to facilitate visiting theatre companies, their arrival and set up of the show and give technical support involving set building, lighting and sound. During performances my duties include lighting board op, pyrotechnics op, dry ice machines/smoke machines, follow spotting, Kinesys op, scene changes and duty cover. Maintenance duties involve repairing damaged equipment and installation of new equipment/cables/technology to improve our infrastructure and better integrate visiting companies. Within Capital Theatres my department often liaise and work with other departments offering tech support. This support can be assisting in events, advertising but also improving the customer experience such as recently installing Sennheiser connect system in our studio. My dept has also been involved with setting up and operating equipment to allow streaming of our creative engagement depts dementia programme along with Forget me Notes group which has been a great experience.
