Responsible for operations of FT Services and Transfield on the Suncor Oilsands Site. This work force consists of 300 Craft and 100 staff.Ensure payroll and billing processes are effective. Continually evaluate to identify improvement opportunities.Responsible for ensuring well developed HR and LR functions on site. These functions are critical to ensuring policies are followed and for maintaining a respectful workplace.Work closely with the Client to ensure that FT is achieving expectations. Full participant in regular Client/contractor progress review meetings and initiate work plans to address continuous improvement opportunities.Established good working relationships with Corporate Office in order to ensure this contract is delivering on Stake Holders expectationsReport and investigate all Heath, Safety and Environmental concerns that emerge on this contract, affecting the operation of the asset and the wellbeing of our people. All near misses and accidents are reported promptly, investigated thoroughly to determine root causes, and corrective action taken to ensure reduction of future incidents. Responsible for ensuring appropriate follow up by FT is also taken, and accurate tracking data maintained.Significant to note: this represents the largest client site contract in FT Services and Transfield operations.

Fort Mcmurray (Suncor Site)

Supervised Supervisors, Foremen, and Building Trades in the Upgrader, Suncor Oilsands. Responsible for a work force of 200 to 400 people. Critical aspect of this role was to ensure safe operations, safe work, safe practices, safe workforce.Ensured man power was appointed as required: all work force reduction or hiring was done as per union contracts. Responsible for conducting safety meetings and plant inspections. Initiated investigations as required and took the lead role in the investigation. Provided updates to the Site Manager and the Client on progress and outcomes. Worked closely with the Client to ensure FT was working to their expectations. Ensured proper communication is maintained between the Supervisors, Schedulers and Area Managers, and they are being updated about such things as progress or issues.Worked closely with Site Manager and other area Execution Managers to ensure manpower is fully utilized throughout the site and business. Transferred manpower between areas as required to keep productivity up to expected levels.Reported and investigated any near misses or accidents. Provided follow up and followed through on required actions to FT and Client.

Fort Mcmurray

Supervised the day to day maintenance of the running Sag-D oil extraction plant. Trades included Millwrights, Pipe Fitters, Laborers, and Scaffolders.This work included Commissioning and Start Up of the Nexen plant. Worked closely with the Client and Jacob Schedulers’ to bring the plant up in a safe and efficient manner. Could be relied upon to provided support and bring “new ideas” forward to help this organization continuously improve.Ensured the trades were working safely and updated progress with the Client as needed. Coached and monitored Foreman ensuring they knew what was expected of them and ensured they followed through on procedures and met expectations.“On Loan” to the client in the de-bottlenecking and expansion of the facility. Represented the client by inspecting newly installed equipment and confirmed they are up to Nexen Standards. This included Equipment Base Preparation, Pipe Strains, Equipment Alignment, and Final Signatures.Participated with any Hazard Assessments, Pre-job Meetings, or Safety Meetings as required. Worked with people to write or update procedures as required to ensure safe work.

Supervised the maintenance in various areas of the new refinery at Suncor.Worked closely with the Foremen to make sure manpower was allocated appropriately so schedules were met.Monitored the areas and completed observations to ensure people were working safely. Made the required recommendations as per monitoring and observing areas.Participated in inspections with the Client to demonstrate progress of outages. Documented and eliminated deficiencies that may have been found and reported on the tours.“On Loan” to the client for approximately one year to develop and roll out Project Corner Stone. This was a roll out of maintenance best practices and a new computer system, SAP. Worked in Calgary as required for the development and chaired information sessions and training for the new systems.Supervised the major fire rebuild of the Delayed Coker and Diluent Recovery Units.

Oversight of the maintenance and rebuild of rotating equipment in the Upgrader. Ensured procedures were followed and any required information was given to the rotating engineers.Ensured the work was done safely and efficiently. Confirmed the availability and delivery of parts to the required jobs and ensured the people were selected for the jobs as per their experience and ability.Completed any required permits and notification prior to performing work.Ensured time sheets, shift start and end sheets were completely accurately and on time.Conducted morning tool box talks and discussed the upcoming jobs to be performed in order to identify any issues so that solutions could be implemented.
