The Bay Unit houses the long-term dementia/Alzheimer’s residents. I was responsible for caring for 7-11 residents on a routine basis, with varying stages of dementia. Daily responsibilities include providing basic care, maintaining the health and hygiene, and promote physical comfort of the residents as well as assisting residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) and charting vitial signs. It is an incredibly rewarding job, and has inspired me to become a nurse.

This objective has served us well as we enjoy many loyal customers; have received 100% (no infractions) on every health inspection conducted by the Kitsap County Dept. of Health since opening our doors in February, 2008; and was voted #1Best Pizza in South Kitsap through the Port Orchard Chamber of Commerce in 2010. My responsibilities were widespread, from opening to closing the restaurant daily, ordering food and supplies, food preparation, handling employee matters, creating the employee schedules, booking parties/takeovers, catering events, counting the tills and reconciling the daily sales reports, as well as front line interaction with customers. Started the restaurant from scratch; my initial job was to interview possible candidates to open the restaurant with us, train them in everything from taking customers’ orders, to food prep, to ensuring proper procedures were followed in opening, closing, and making sure everything ran smoothly. This included handling any issues that arose in the workplace among employees, employees/customers. In addition, I was responsible for communicating with all of our vendors ensure we maintained enough stock to conduct business. I often worked 50-60+ hours a week, and got called in whenever an employee called or we simply got busy and did not have enough staff to handle the surge in volume. I was also required to work independently since I was the first to arrive in the morning to open and the last to leave when closing.
