During my tenure I led a highly skilled, multi-location on and offshore team which oversaw a scalable, secure, and high-performance database landscape spanning on-premise and cloud databases via multiple cloud providers, aligning with the organisation's needs and maximising cost optimisation opportunities via PAAS offerings. Conversing with internal stakeholders at different levels, I ensured the correct database architecture was in place to support data-driven decision-making.

Responsible for a wide estate of databases including on prem SQL Server, cloud based database technologies and Oracle. This includes: • Design and configuration including but not limited to multi-site clustering, SQL AlwaysOn architecture, Encryption and cloud based solutions. • Designing and maintaining a range of SSIS, SSAS and SSRS solutions.• Providing the organisation with clear, precise and beneficial solutions to requirements within both the financial and non-financial markets. • Central Management System – Custom built monitoring system keeping us informed of the health and availability of the databases 24/7, triggering alerts when criteria was met and thresholds exceeded. Automatic data analysis allowed us to identifying potential issues as well as performing proactive tasks like capacity planning. • Database Management – Covering the full spectrum including documentation, procedures, standards, security, maintenance and support for both production and non-production issues. • Performance Management – To implement successful solutions and to increase the availability and efficiency of the databases. Including a deep understanding of TSQL and performance tuning.

Responsible for maintaining and supporting the database estate many of which required 99.9% uptime.• Responsibilities included but not limited to design, implementation and support along with performance tuning and executing critical business processes.• Upgrades - Managed and completed many upgrades to the latest versions of SQL including migration of legacy DTS pacakges to SSIS along with SSRS.• Back up and Disaster Recovery Strategies• Designing high availability strategies• Report warehouse maintenance• Ad hoc Queries – The creation of to meet a wide variety of business needs• Controlling the BACS lifecycle and processes between the systems and Finance.

Responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining the databases. This included maintaining stored procedures, triggers, designing DTS/SSIS packages, back up procedures and database security in SQL 2000 and 2005. Also providing reporting services which required the manipulation and generation of large quantities of data to internal and external customers. External integration projects included working with such organisations as Carlsberg, 3663, JWLees along with many others.

Contracted to design an employee overtime database. Based on an MS Access front end with VBA scripting along with functions for exportation of data to a SQL Server database and to produce graphical reports generated from reporting services.
