I commenced working with the union in 2005 to manage a team supporting members to access training and learning opportunities. A major focus for the team was giving information, advice and guidance to members facing or being made redundant. In 2008 I created and launched www.learnwithunite.org the unions own virtual learning environment. This enabled members across the country to access free learning and support for career progression or personal development.In 2012 I moved to the post of Regional Education and Development officer with the responsibility of managing the education offer to the 3,600 plus Unite the Union elected representatives across the Northeast, Yorkshire and Humber Region. I still maintain strategic responsibility for the learnwithunite platform which I see as a crucial tool in offering access to education and training at all levels for our members.
