I have been working in TV for nearly 25 years now. I believe that sports are entertainment, and should be treated as such. To that end I work hard to write & produce creative, informative, upbeat - and above all - fun sportscasts.I think it's important to be conversational, and to try and build a relationship with the audience. Except with the ones who hate me.My hope is to make the shows interesting not just for sports junkies, but also for folks in the coveted "I hate sports and usually turn the TV off after weather" demographic.As a reporter, the goal is to craft a compelling human interest story that just happens to have a sports background. A number of which have been honored with Associated Press, Edward R. Murrow, MAB, and/or Emmy awards he said insecurely.Special skills: The ability to memorize hundreds of movie lines and useless pop cultural nuggets. I also solved that really hard math problem in 'Good Will Hunting'.I am very active charitably, and - if at all possible - never turn down a request. I have been a Salvation Army board member since 2015, and have raised over $48,000 for the Kalamazoo Polar Plunge since 2009. This community means a great deal to both myself and my Portage native wife.I am extremely happy working/raising a family in West Michigan, and in a state which has some absolutely rabid - and incredibly loyal - sports fans.#puremichigan
