Engaged to deliver and maintain an operationally effective and safety compliant fleet. I am responsible for managing a fleet of 85 vessels including optimising vessel placement, purchasing and sales, certification, training and internal audit inspections. Also responsible for setting the Master standards and creating, implementing and monitoring the Masters Training Programme to ensure that all new Masters are trained to the company's standard. • Nominated for the 2016 Lloyds List Young Australian Shipping Professional of the year • Directed the fleets OVMSA (Offshore Vessel Management and Self-Assessment) internal audits and auditors. Each vessel is audited twice a year to ensure compliance with standards and the application of best practice to international standards. I actively monitor trends. • Input to commercial tenders as subject matter expert, coordinated the production of business cases and led procurement activities for new vessel purchases and the sale of old vessels. • Managed key Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) contract with a net operating profit after tax of AU$2.3M per annum. This included managing contract compliance of ports and supply of emergency towage around the coast of Australia at short notice. Achieved all operational KPI’s for three consecutive years which resulted in the company receiving a bonus each year of the contract award. • Successfully implemented a centralised online monitoring system for vessel certification across 85 vessels. Managed all aspects of design, tender and installation delivering a solution that provided Masters and all levels of shore management with visibility of certification evidence and legal compliance.• Successfully oversaw the implementation of a crew certification monitoring system ensuring that the crew complied with International and local legislative requirements. 

Engaged to standardise deck and marine vessel operations in the Middle East region, increasing efficiency and reducing crewing and maintenance costs across a fleet of 40+ vessels. I was responsible for identifying and implementing cost reduction initiatives to reduce OPEX costs, to reduce LTIF and manage the safe movement of vessels to and from dry docks within the region.• Conducted annual HSE, ISM and ISPS internal audits and pre-contract and on hire inspections. • Managed Petrofac tug and support vessel operations in the port of Hamriyah, UAE including off takes and SBM maintenance. • Managed vessel relocations to and from dry dock, including the Middle East piracy security requirements. • Successfully managed audit programme to identify fleet best practice and identify operational efficiencies. Delivered final report with recommendations to the senior team. Subsequent implementation of recommendations led to a cost reduction in excess of $500K.

Liverpool, United Kingdom

Engaged as Marine Superintendent to ensure adherence to safety and operational standards. I was responsible for monitoring crew/vessel certification and compliance and maintaining operational efficiency of 10 vessels in Liverpool, Greenock and Belfast. This included managing a shore team of three, and 60 crew.  • Led regular planned safety meetings and briefings to share best practice, knowledge share and increase safety/operational awareness.  • Managed customer meetings with BHP Billiton to plan and schedule vessel offtakes from offshore installations in the Irish sea. • Instigated regular meetings with the tugs and crew to improve communications and transparency and cultural awareness.

Engaged as General Manager of DFDS Seaways Crewing and Training department to manage the implementation of training programmes, maintain legal compliance and increase commercial awareness across the department. I was responsible for crew certification and compliance monitoring for 3000 crew across 40 vessels including Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping Code. • Implemented crew training matrix and manual to comply with DFDS Seaways legislation.  • Developed training frame agreements with colleges and training institutions to ensure best practice and cost efficient training programmes. • Managed the Dover cross-channel crewing operations ensuring vessels were fully manned and trained for legal and commercial departments. I was responsible for three shore staff and over 900 crew. • Successfully managed the development and implementation of a £1.5M training programme to maintain local and international legislative compliance for 3000 sea staff. Established training programme focussed on commercial and legislative training to ensure ongoing legal compliance.

Engaged as Head of Norfolkline vessels safety department for Maersk Ship Management. I was responsible for the operation of 6 roll on-roll off vessels operating between Holland and the UK and 7 passenger ferries operating between the UK and Europe/Ireland. • Managed safety operations for all vessels implementing company standards and incident management investigation.• Improved company’s Safety Quality Health & Environmental protection implementing safety officer’s courses and workshops across the fleet. Planned/executed internal safety audits and supervised external safety audits with legislative bodies.

Marine Operation Superintendent in Dover for the three Passenger RoRo Vessels in the Norfolkline Fleet working for Maersk Marine Services. My duties involve being ADPA, DCSO, SMS reporting, Operations and the day to day marine functions of the vessels. This is part of an onshore Officer to Management programme run by Maersk.

I was Chief Officer on the third new build, the Maersk Dover.My duties as Chief Officer included crew organisation, planning and motivation, ship handling and backing up of the Master for each port arrival/departure. Regular stability and planned maintenance checks.I have been involved with two of the three new builds for Norfolk Line. These are 1000 Passenger Ro-Pax Ferries for the Dover to Dunkurque run. I was promoted to First Officer on the second new build vessel in January 2006. I worked in the London Office for Maersk for two months which involved the second new build personnel recruitment, as well as recruitment for the Maersk Fleet and organization of short courses for the second new build Officer's team. I was also ashore for three months as the ferries Personnel Officer based in London and Dover.

I was responsible for the safe Navigation of the vessel, safe loading and discharging of the vessel and crew management and organisation. My duties included regular watchkeeping and shiphandling, ensuring the vessel is in a stable condition at all times and conducting and implementing crew training. I was in charge of the Life Saving Appliances on board the Pride Of Calais. This is a passenger vessel for up to 2400 passengers. Regular interaction with the Master and the crew ensure that I was part of an efficient and well motivated team. This is an imperative part of my position. I regularly took the ship in and out of Dover and Calais, as I found this one of the most enjoyable aspects of the job.
