As a leader of a high-performing software engineering team responsible for Alerting, Telemetry, and Data Pipelines for Marketing Cloud, my role is critical in ensuring the service health of both internal and external customers while also keeping the cost-to-serve at a minimum.One of the most notable achievements is being able to monetize our internal alerting system for external customer use. A new type of alert was created to allow external customers to get notified if their marketing processes were outside of their expectation's (SLA's). The sales team was able to turn this into a revenue stream that as of early 2023 has produced over $12 million in annual revenue .

As a Principal Engineer, I undertook the crucial responsibility of establishing a comprehensive Service Health tracking system to evaluate the progress of teams in terms of Availability, Reliability, and Scalability. Leveraging existing internal tools used for incident tracking, problem management, investigations, and work item management, I collaborated closely with each service organization to develop interactive dashboards that aggregated all relevant data into a weekly Service Health view.This innovative approach enabled us to gain accurate metrics and insights into the overall health of each service, providing a valuable framework for assessing the effectiveness of various improvement initiatives. The adoption of the Service Health process had a profound impact on the entire organization, resulting in a significant reduction in customer impacting incidents. In fact, customer attrition rates were lowered by an impressive 60%.By effectively leveraging data visualization and collaboration with cross-functional teams, we successfully transformed the organization's approach to service management. This accomplishment not only demonstrated my ability to analyze complex data sets and develop meaningful metrics but also highlighted my adeptness in driving positive change across diverse teams and stakeholders.

During this time, I not only successfully led the rebuilding and stabilization of the storage and backup team but also spearheaded a significant migration project. Recognizing the limitations of the antiquated NetBackup system, which failed to meet the organization's Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) commitments to our external customers, I embarked on an initiative to migrate all backups to Google Cloud Platform (GCP).Given the critical nature of remediating the SAN issues, funding and resources were initially prioritized for the first 24 months. Once the SAN infrastructure was stabilized, the focus shifted towards implementing a backup solution that could effectively meet our customers' expectations. In a proactive move, we adopted GCP for backups, enabling us to reduce hardware dependencies and significantly improve backup and recovery times.It is worth noting that this migration to GCP for backups occurred a year before any corporate public cloud initiatives were even announced, highlighting the forward-thinking nature of our approach. The successful implementation of the GCP solution not only met the organization's immediate backup requirements but also laid the foundation for the expansion and improvement of the backup team's capabilities on this new platform.The adoption of GCP backups proved to be critical in achieving our customers' expectations of RPO and RTO within minutes. By leveraging the advanced capabilities and reliability of GCP, we ensured that our backup processes aligned with the high standards set by our customers.Throughout this journey, I demonstrated my ability to navigate complex technical challenges, secure necessary resources, and implement innovative solutions ahead of industry trends. As a result, I was promoted in recognition of my leadership and successful execution of critical projects.

As I began Salesforce, I was entrusted with the vital task of rebuilding and stabilizing the storage and backup team, as well as revamping the associated hardware infrastructure. In just 8 months, I successfully reconstructed the team by hiring and onboarding 11 new highly skilled engineers, revitalizing the department's capabilities and expertise.Recognizing the limitations of the existing 3PAR SAN arrays in meeting the organization's growing needs for performance and scalability, I embarked on a mission to persuade the leadership team to consider alternative solutions. Despite the deep-rooted preference for HPE, the longstanding vendor, I conducted a meticulous multi-vendor SAN Proof of Concept (POC) showcasing the capabilities and advantages of DELL/EMC storage.My efforts yielded remarkable results, leading to the replacement of all 3PAR SAN arrays with DELL/EMC PMAX/VMAX arrays. The adoption of this new SAN technology not only served as the foundation of our infrastructure but also ensured continuous scalability and enhanced performance.As the industry progressed and the next generation of SANs, specifically the PMAX utilizing NVME, became available, I successfully secured approvals from Marketing Cloud and the Salesforce Core hardware team to embrace this cutting-edge technology. The new version offered twice the capacity while fitting into half a rack, a critical advantage as our data centers transitioned to the Network model, capping new application stack builds at 26 cabinets. Consequently, the entire SAN to Server network was redesigned and migrated to a hub-and-spoke architecture, which remains the organization's configuration to this day.My achievements in overhauling the storage and backup team, upgrading the SAN infrastructure, and implementing forward-thinking solutions demonstrate my ability to drive transformative initiatives, gain stakeholder buy-in, and deliver sustainable results in complex and dynamic environments.

Here are some Key Highlights of my achievements managing multiple teams and overseeing various aspects of MISO's IT operations.Team Management: I was responsible for daily activities, projects, resource allocation, staff development, budgeting, and performance evaluations. This includes handling complex multi-million dollar projects across different IT disciplines.Infrastructure Implementation: Successfully implemented NetApp NAS, Hitachi SAN, and Cisco Switch architecture for Midwest ISO's critical applications across four remote data centers. This allowed for seamless migration and simultaneous availability of data and infrastructure across all data centers.Integration of IT Systems: Managed the building and integration of IT systems into MISO's Southern Region Operation Center (SROC). This integration was crucial for expanding business and partnerships in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi.Improved Customer Service: Through various incident improvement processes the average time to resolve problem tickets within the organization was reduced to less than one day, leading to improved customer service.Change Management and Compliance: Played a Key role in enhancing change management and compliance with government agencies such as SAE16, NERC, and FERC. This involved establishing a Change Review Board, implementing a change management system, and developing compliance policies and procedures.These achievements highlights my ability to effectively manage teams, drive successful infrastructure projects, enhance customer service, ensure compliance, and make significant contributions to critical initiatives.

As a Supervisor of Storage and UNIX Architect for the Ascension Health Account, I had a diverse range of responsibilities and accomplishments.Storage Architecture: I was responsible for designing and implementing storage solutions for multiple ministries within Ascension Health, including St. Vincent Hospital. This involved selecting and procuring storage arrays from vendors such as Xiotech, EMC, and StorageTek, as well as configuring Brocade SAN switches.UNIX Architecture: Oversaw the management of IBM RS6000 Unix platforms at St. Vincent Hospital, serving as the lead architect. These servers hosted critical applications like Radiology, Pharmacy, and PeopleSoft, and also acted as enterprise-level Oracle database servers.Evault Backup Solutions: Played a crucial role in implementing and supervising the deployment of Evault backup solutions across Ascension Health, with a specific focus on St. Vincent Hospital. The Disk-to-Disk backup system provided comprehensive centralized backup capabilities and contributed to the overall Disaster Recovery plan.Awards and Recognition: You were honored with the Storage Magazine's "Innovators of the Year" award in April 2003. This recognition was a result of your innovative implementation of the "Disk-to-Disk-to-Tape" architecture, utilizing Evault backup software and StorageTek disk arrays. This solution not only achieved cost savings but also ensured highly available disaster recovery capabilities.Enterprise-level Storage Area Network (SAN): Managed the enterprise-level SAN infrastructure, consisting of Brocade core and edge switches, as well as XIOtech disk arrays.
