Upon receiving a degree in Architecture in 2003, Andy Powell began his pursuit of the higher arts of the calling with the design and construction of his first built work, Tucson, Arizona’s ‘Back40 house’. Over the proceeding years, through his own formalized design/build practice he learned by direct experience the crafts and trades of making, the practice and promise of design thinking, and the logics and imperatives of contemporary business. A decade later, in continuation of the effort to develop more effective ways of bringing into our world things that actually belong here, he founded Superfab. Today he brings this experience, aptitude and vision to bear as its owner, ambassador, chief executive and lead designer. A role - by design - less tethered to everyday operations, his critical focus remains on the original project: the underlying structure, value, and longview integrity of Superfab itself.
