In this position I worked as a sales representative for three different companies through the recently established Roth Global Partners LLC. Two of them are large textile manufacturers out of China trying to enter the American market through the Healthcare and Hospitality industries. The third is concerned with creating high volume sales programs in the Midwest for a food processing and distribution company based out of the southern United States. My day to day work consists of lead generation, market research, administrative assistance, setting up, attending, and following up meetings with supply chain managers, operations managers and product managers. Our main niche is utilizing Roth Global Partners longstanding connections within the hospitality industry to establish programs for commodity products for corporate hotel chains, fabrication companies and distributors.

Through this unique opportunity I had the pleasure of raising $10,000 for wounded soldiers by coordinating a social media marketing campaign which connected our team with the president of the Oprah Winfrey network. She offered to auction off a tour of OWN and someone paid $10,000 for the opportunity. We took that momentum and established an ongoing relationship which exposed my team to the opportunity to be a part of a global media competition partnered with UN women and Ashoka (the world's largest social entrepreneurship network) I worked directly alongside a graphic designer to create a pitch that connected the University of Iowa, OWN, and the two organizations listed above which will eventually help this media competition reach much greater heights and outreach. The program is aimed at financially supporting and empowering young women with an entrepreneurial mindset to create changemaking companies or non-profits which serve to fulfill a social need on a local, ecological, or global scale. My main takeaways from this academic internship were that people are willing to help especially for a noble cause, and building a strong network and executing on the claims you make are key in really getting things done.

As the VP of Professional relations my main duties were helping run an in house pro-bono ad agency and exposing students to professionals in the advertising industry.I assisted in the planning and creating of multi-platform ad campaigns for local organizations and small businesses in the Iowa City area. I expanded our customer base by reaching out to these organizations and showing them that a group of motivated students can put together some very fine work.I called on numerous individuals in the field and planned and coordinated trips each semester to Chicago and Minneapolis. This allowed me to gain confidence in cold calling, because whether you're calling to try and set up a tour, or calling to maintain a relationship at the end of the day its all sales.
