I began at the Financial Times, then CNBC and reporting, on camera, for Channel 5 but I call the BBC home.I have presented my own tv and radio show broadcast across the Arab world based in Dubai.I had six years in the BBC in London producing for, amongst others, the Today Programme on Radio 4, BBC 1's Breakfast show and output editing BBC World News' World Business Report. I was the based in Dubai as the BBC's Middle East Business correspondent filing for Middle East Business Report, BBC World News, BBC News 24 and the suite of BBC radio. After the BBC I produced Gateway To The Middle East for CNBC Europe, writing, reporting and directing weekly segments. I was Series Producer at ADMC making Inside The National, ADMC's only English language news show. I was Business correspondent for The National and currently work as a video journalist filing video reports from across the world as The National pushes its boundaries of digital story telling. In tv journalism it is not only the reporter that tells a story, it is every member of the production team, all the elements have to work together as a creative unit and only then will the final product achieve its potential.Making good television is not about the quality of images or the framing of the shot, its not about whether there is a big name interviewed in the piece, or if you have an "A" list voice providing the script.I am a journalist that creates what people want to watch. My experience with shooting and editing allow me to visualise how a project will look while my reporting skills allow me to craft the script alongside the images. My production knowledge then allows me to polish the words and images to create a sparkling final product.

I made the show a journey through The National newsroom, adding news-in-briefs, photo features, and a substantial sport section. I re-shot the titles and tightened the writing from a broadsheet to a tabloid style. Headlines became pithy and punchy with a wry wit, while contributors became regulars developing a broadcast voice and on-screen personalities.I wrote and voiced EPL and F1 reviews using exclusive footage, making the most from ADMC's meagre resources but leveraging faithful viewers to another platform for their sporting fix and garnering a wider audience for the show.Abu Dhabis's events became a spring board for feature shows and future programmes. The Ultimate Fighter, Womad and Creamfields all became platforms for Inside The National to explore the cultural and commercial shift Abu Dhabi was undergoing.Inside The National demanded a creative and motivated producer to push the boundaries of what a "news programme" could and should be.

Writing, shooting and editing a 30 minute show for CNBC, I travelled extensively in the region interviewing the great and the good from Queen Rania of Jordan to Italy's Romano Prodi and the UK's Prince Andrew. The job required an eye for news and a nose for celebrity ... I let the mouth do the rest.

What was to be one of the biggest infastructure projects the world has ever seen, The Arabian Canal, a 75 kilometre long man made waterway bigger than the Panama Canal, would have placed Dubai at the forefront of waterfront living and shown man made Palm shaped islands to be inconsequential. I was Director of the documentary that was to track the mammoth project until the world financial crisis saw Dubai's dreams turn into a hole in the sand.

As the Middle East reporter for BBC World News I filed from most countries across the Middle East and North Africa. Working as a video journalist the job required me to shoot and edit a four minute VT each week. This not only reinforced my camera and editing (using FCP) experience but also taught me the value of pre production and storyboarding a shoot so that unnecessary filming was kept to a minimum. It allowed me to create films that did not just have "wallpaper" behind a voice track but films where words and pictures worked together.

Working across BBC Televison and radio platforms, I wrote, produced and output edited for BBC1's Breakfast Show, BBC Radio 4's Today Programme and BBC World News' World Business Report. Based in London's TV Centre I edited bulletins and programmes from the Business and Economics Unit feeding into BBC1, News 24, BBC World and Radio 2, Radio 4 and Radio 5.
