I am a Professional Independent Trustee with Dalriada Trustees Ltd, having previously carried out the same role for 2 years with Scottish Pension Trustees Ltd (part of Capital Cranfield Trustees Ltd). Prior to that, I acted as a Scheme Actuary and investment consultant for over 30 years with actuarial consultancy firms Latterly I was a Principal for over 16 years at Punter Southall where, I founded their Independent Trustee arm, PS Independent Trustees Ltd. in 2000.. Whilst there, I won a £Multi-million litigation settlement for one of my trustee clients, whose deferred members had lost everything when the Company went bust. This was a significant case that helped set up the Financial Assistance Scheme(FAS) that subsequently came to the rescue of thousands of members who had suffered a similar fate when their company went bust prior to the 2005 Pensions Act. I also carried out the role of caseworker for the FAS and the PPF, assisting pension schemes to gain access to those 2 rescue funds.In addition, I have acted in a senior position in the Institute and Faculty of. Actuaries! Disciplinary process for over 15 years. I am also a Member of the Academy of Experts, and have carried out a lot of expert witness work on loss of pensions on divorce, unfair dismissal and industrial or accidental injury.I have lived and worked in Edinburgh for most of my career, but am now based in Glasgow with Dalriada.Outside work, I am on the board of a couple of charities and am on the Investment Committee for the Merchant Company of Edinburgh.I am interested in music, art and most sports having played rugby and cricket for Stewart's Melville FPs. I also played rugby for London Scottish in the early 1980s.
