I work as part of the Cloud Infrastructure team, providing consultancy services to clients to help them design, plan and implement their Azure Cloud infrastructure. I design Landong Zones to provide the foundational elements, as well as assisting with technical and cost analysis of on-premises environments to assist with business cases for Cloud Adoption. I provide solution architecture expertise to ensure the right solutions are in place, in a controlled and effective way, and business and technical requirements are met for any deployment. I work with Azure DevOps and Bicep/Terraform for the majority of deployments, and assist with workload migration following successful Landing Zone implementation. I also provide assessments to understand any limitations of existing deployments, and detailed review documentation explaining gap analysis for obtaining best practice configuration for a customer environment.

I worked as part of the Cloud Solutions Architect team as a pre-sales architect. I work closely with Sales to initially scope out customer requirements and translate these in to solution designs of all shapes and sizes, to meet these requirements. I am a highly technical individual with a keen interest and focus on Azure technologies - always looking to increase my knowledge in all things Cloud to widen my technical horizons as much as possible, ensuring I create the most appropriate designs, using the best of breed Cloud technology at the right price for our clients. I work very closely with other Architect teams, such as network and collaboration teams, to ensure all bases are covered for the solutions I design and act as a point of reference for our delivery teams when my designs reach the delivery phase. My predominant focus is Azure, but the majority of customer engagements result in Hybrid Cloud type deployments that utilise the Redcentric internal Cloud platform as well as Azure to give clients the best of both worlds.

I worked as a technical go to for our managed and professional service clients in the retail sector of the Piksel business, as well as internally within the Piksel organisation specifically focusing on initial project requirements gathering and technical analysis of possible solutions as well as some high and low level design aspects of what these solutions could/will be. I have increased focus on cost savings for our clients, specifically focused on public cloud adoption and migration activities and any processes we can add in to ensure we are making the most out of cloud. Predominantly Azure focused but also looking at some AWS technologies as well where required. My role consists of working very closely with clients to understand business requirements to help support the sales process and strengthen customer relationships.

At Hiscox I formed part of the VMware infrastructure team, working as a senior technical resource for the team. I acted as a Technical Lead on a number of projects throughout my relatively short time here, predominantly based on migrations from legacy hardware/OS to newer machines. This included completing technical design documentation for all the projects I was involved in, as well as organising specific speciality resources where required, and providing accurate estimates for work duration so this could be re-charged throughout the different areas of the business.

Having started my Piksel career as an Engineer several years ago, I worked up to being part of the technical leadership team in the Microsoft based managed service arm of the company. I work with a wide range of Microsoft technologies both on premise and in the cloud (predominantly Azure, but some AWS as well) and some Linux based services. This involved team management responsibilities for a team of between 8 and 10 engineers at any given time, as well as facilitating project work to more junior members of the team either through designs I have created or based on Technical Architect documentation to ensure this is completed to a very high standard. From the BAU perspective the role involved dealing with the more complex of the day to day incidents, through to high impact incidents in a calm and collected manner. I am expected to manage my own time, deal with customer communications as these such incidents occur and act as an escalation point (both operational and technical) for more junior members of the team both in and out of hours. I operate in a full ITIL based ticket management capacity with Change, Incident and Problem Management being applied across all of our customer accounts.
