Production of 3D CAD models / designs of Li-ION battery packs and Calibration systems to customer specifications in the Space Industry.Working at Enersys-ABSL, I am a hands on Design engineer. Working on space hardware including assembly of batteries and associated equipment. In the past I have been involved in mechanical inspection of piece parts and assembly of components to engineering drawings.For the design of components I use the CAD package Solidworks.This is used to create 3D models that are transferred to our finite element package for structural analysis,Production of Detailed Assembly Cad models, Assembly drawings and detailed piece part drawings to BS8888. I am constantly in contact with outside manufacturing companies on best practice latest manufacturing techniques with a view to improving quality,reducing time and reviewing cost.I also us 2D AutoCAD to produce wiring schemes and harness drawings for test applications.I have had the opportunity to visit suppliers assisting in the Quality Team Audit.Use of small 3D printer for rapid prototype concepts.

Development of Prototype Tools and mounts to fit on the end of the NEATER Robot arm allowing cutting operations to be carried out remotely by operators outside of a radioactive environment. Extensive testing was carried out for reliability.Development of Robot maintenance techniques for use within a Radioactive environment using knowledge gained working alongside Staubli Robot maintenance Technicians.CAD Design support for Design Engineer on the Artisan 100 Hydraulic manipulator producing mechanical layout drawings, manufacturing drawings and manipulator reach diagrams for many applications.CAD Design Support to Project Engineer and Design Engineer on the Vandellos waste retrieval system. Production of Mechanical Layout Drawings and Design drawings for the Artisan 200 Hydraulic manipulator.Operation of “GRASP” solid modelling CAD Package. This is used to produce 3D Robotic environments helping to evaluate optimum arm reach and removing possible clash conditions.
