My 6-word story: Make them think; Help them do.Seasoned people development professional aspiring to be well and happy. My work is to extend the same invitation to the world and to explore together, with those who choose to respond, what that means in their respective realities. To do this, my maxim is to challenge the paradigm, honour all perspectives and learn to be child-like again. For the last 20 years, I’ve been applying this philosophy in my work as a People Development professional, initially as in-house consultant and for the past 10 years or so, as an independent agent. Most of my engagements are in designing and facilitating corporate leadership events, coaching middle to senior executives, running small learning groups and helping clients run their important meetings well. I also make my contribution through writing stories and articles on a plethora of topics, all the time adhering to the aim of expanding perspectives, inviting changes and having some creative fun at the same time.Born in the mid 60’s Hong Kong, I was privileged enough to have had most of my education and early careers in various parts of the UK, before moving to Singapore in 2005. My HR Development career started in the manufacturing sector. When Quality Improvement projects became in vogue, both the technical and personal development realms seamlessly merged . My skills in career transition were much honed following a plant shutdown where I had my second manufacturing employment. My final corporate stint was with a Scottish telecommunications company, where I created a suite of leadership development programs in-house. Since becoming an independent agent, I’ve worked in all the major industry types.I believe that building trust and relationship, when practising anything leadership, is like building the basic cardiovascular fitness when practising anything sports. Openness builds closeness, once engaged, we can then go places! It is that simple, but never that easy!
