My name is Andrew (Andy) Lyman. I graduated from Pacific University in 2022 as a Doctor of Optometry and recently passed all NBEO exams.As a person who depends upon the optometric field for clear sight, I am committed to bringing clearer vision and eye health to members of my community as a doctor of optometry. Every person has a right to crisp, clear vision and regular eye care. I look forward to serving underprivileged populations within my sphere as an optometrist through outreach endeavors within my community and abroad. Alongside seeing patients and outreach services, I hope to give back to optometry students by creating a scholarship fund. I am a first generation university graduate and through hard work and scholarships was able to complete my undergraduate degree with zero debt. This was an enormous blessing. It is my goal to share that blessing with other first generation university students so they too can have a good financial start.During rotations, I had the opportunity to work in veterans affairs, Indian Health Services, an Air Force Base, and private practice. While every site added to my education and skill set, the experiences I had while working in private practice ignited my desire to own a practice after a period of being mentored. Outside of optometry, I am a husband and father. I enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, riding bikes, and camping with my family. When I’m not playing with my children, I enjoy working in the yard.I am a devout Christian and my faith in Jesus Christ is central to all I do. I am excited for this next chapter and starting my career as an optometrist.
