After spending 8 years in the hospitality industry I decided to take a career break in 2000 to do a spot of travelling. The initial 6 month plan turned into 2 years with much of this time spent wandering the Great Walks of New Zealand. I returned to the UK in 2002, moved to Scotland, and plotted a way to combine a love of travel and long distance walking into a viable business.Absolute Escapes was born in 2004. In our first year we offered packages on just two long distance trails and a few self-drive tours of Scotland.We now offer over 45 trails throughout the UK & Ireland and a comprehensive tailor-made travel service for clients wishing to visit England, Scotland and Wales on either a self-drive holiday or guided tour.For me the perfect week is to spend a few days researching a new walking trail somewhere in the UK or Ireland, followed by a day or two on a spectacular Scottish island, before finishing the week discovering a hidden beach in the far-flung corners of the North West Highlands.My goal is to deliver outstanding customer service and to assist our clients to experience their very own absolute escape.
