The American Red Cross FAST, or First Aid Services Team, provides medical stations for public and private events throughout the Bay Area from as far south as Monterey and Watsonville, as far north as Sonoma and Santa Rosa, as far west as Santa Cruz and as far east as Oakland.This team provides medical support for over 200 events each year of all different types. This includes: Ethnic festivals such as Greek Festival, Obon Festival, Dia De San Juan, TET Festival and Cinco De Mayo. Charity fundraisers such as: Kidney Walk, Tour De Cure, and San Jose 408k Community Events such as: Gilroy Garlic Festival, Mexican Rodeos, Morgan Hill July 4th, San Jose Jazz Festival and King’s Day Celebration Major Sporting Events such as Nike Women’s Marathon, Gran Fondo Bike Race, Mud Runs and Ultra Marathons. Private Company Holiday parties, give back to the community work days, and company picnicsFAST provides first aid medical treatments for everything ranging from minor injuries such as blisters, scrapes and strained muscles to major medical or trauma related incidents. If the situation requires the team coordinates responses with advanced care and/or transport for the patient with regional EMS response units.

MVDR is established to support medical and health emergency management in three key areas:Medical/Health Emergencies: Events that threaten the public’s health and safety, such as a disease outbreak and medical surge.Mass Casualty Incidents: Disasters that cause injury or threats to large numbers of people. These can include a building collapse, fire, storm, flood, or other event that displaces groups of residents.Community Outreach: Opportunities to foster the well-being of local residents, such as health fairs/expos, influenza immunization clinics, or training events.

The City of Cupertino's Emergency Preparedness Program provides services to the City organization and to the community to prepare an effective response to natural, technological, and human-caused disasters. The program is a cooperative effort between the City of Cupertino, the Santa Clara County Fire Department and local volunteers CERT, MRC and CARES

The Public Safety Commission consists of five members appointed by the City Council to four-year, overlapping terms. The primary functions are to advise the Council on all areas relating to public safety, traffic, and police, fire and other matters relating to the foregoing.Meetings are held monthly on the second Thursday of each month at 6 pm in City Hall, Conference Room A.
