The basic role includes Implementation and customer specific configuration of company produced software, setting up windows based POS units, testing all equipment and the testing of the software after configuration. As a part of my role I also liaise with customers and other departments to ensure a solid and correct configuration is in place and all equipment is on site by the installation date. Responsibilities/Tasks:Setting up, configuring, testing and packing of EPOS systems in accordance with site requirements.Recovery of stored EFT's from faulty stand alone EFT Units.Provide training for field service and Helpdesk personnel.Develop and update base configurations for new and existing customers and schemes.Update and implement prep procedures and paperwork.Train other members of the department on existing and new products and projects.Test equipment and confirm faults with some repair work.Other Skills:Automation of processes using Visual Basic .net amongst other methods Using and creating batch filesDatabase Desktop using some SQLWindows 2000, XP (Inc. EFT helpdesk progressing to 3rd line EPOS supportThis role included technical support for HTEC EFT Terminals and POS based systems as well as liaising with customers, prioritising work, out of hours support and software configuration and maintenance.Skills and responsibilities:Connecting to sites via ADSL, VPN, ISDN and PSTN connections.Using VNC, Remote Desktop, PCAnywhere and Log me in connections for remote support Managing and prioritizing calls and issues based on customer and severityConfiguring program settings and database files.Fault finding and repair of software issuesDiagnostics of remote Hardware issues and escalation to field service engineersWeekend remote support from home PCWorking alone and being customers only point of contactProducing batch files and other automation methods

My time at IGT Industries began as a school leaver, with a day release to Southampton City College on a YT Scheme. My many roles started with PCB assembly and ended in charge of a small team of test technicians. As this was a small company I was involved with a lot of aspects of the job including PCB testing and repair, final assembly testing and repair, fault finding, stores management, PCB Assembly, surface mount assembly, final assembly, machine operation and programming, packing and dispatch.
