I am extremely proud to serve as Founder, CEO, and Music Director of the Cinematic Symphony Orchestra, and Co-Founder, CEO, and Music Director of the Video Game Symphony, which are two exciting new orchestras that are currently enriching the artistic landscape of Northeastern Ohio and inspiring a new generation of musicians. The Cinematic Symphony is one of the only orchestras in the world dedicated to film music, and the Video Game Symphony is the only orchestras in the world dedicated to video game music. We aspire to not only bring these underappreciated genres to life in the concert hall, but to reach out and connect with the community, hosting engaging concerts and special events, collaborating with local education programs, and drawing new audiences into the rich and expressive realm of classical music. I have also had the privilege of being a professor at Kent State University for the past thirteen years, where I've taught a wide variety of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Some of the courses I've taught include Music Theory I, Music Theory II, The Understanding of Music, Music as a World Phenomenon, Music Analysis, and America’s Music. In 2015, I was promoted to Lead Instructor of the MMME program, which meant I oversaw all six sections of the graduate theory courses, and led weekly meetings with the other professors. In addition to my teaching experience at Kent State, I have taught a number of courses at Youngstown State University, including Aural Theory 2, Analytical Techniques, Graduate Analysis 1, Graduate Analysis 2, and 20th Century Music Styles - Music in Film. Many of these courses were built from scratch by myself. Thus, I have significant experience in music theory, aural training, keyboard skills, composition, musicology, and ethnomusicology. I am equally adept teaching in person and online. Along with my teaching experience, I have a Ph.D. in Music Theory-Composition from Kent State, where I graduated summa cum laude (I have a cumulative 4.0 GPA in my combined graduate work, including my master’s program at CSU). As part of this dual program, I completed a highly regarded two-part dissertation, which included a large-scale composition for orchestra & choir, and a comprehensive theoretical paper on Scriabin’s epic piece to end the world, Prefatory Action: Part I - Universe. In addition to music, I also have a degree in Computer & Information Science, and I have worked at several IT help desks, including the service desk at Ohio State University and the IT help center at Sartomer in Exton, PA.
