The Kirk’s are now off on a mission with our new company, Vulcan Completion Products, to boldly go where no completion company has gone before!We plan to bring some exciting new innovations to the Oil & Gas sector with a new range of patented products. This, of course, we have titled “The Next Generation”.Now in my 5th decade on the planet, I still strive to be the non-conformist rebel I always adhered to in my teenage years. I have the tendency to speak my mind and tell how it actually is, rather than say what you think people want to hear. This, of course, has backfired on the odd occasion!I get great pleasure trying to solve problems. This has rewarded me with the odd patent or two in the areas of Oilfield Well Design Configurations & Optimisation including Casing Centralization and Float Equipment. Involved in 3D printing at an early stage, utilising this conceptual tool for the past 7 years. This along with Flow Dynamics & FEA, I have managed to reduce the conceptual design phase dramatically with great success.Back in 1983 I spent 6 months in Bristol with a mad Czechoslovakian Inventor that had invented one of the first 3D CAD system. This system went on to become the basis of MicroStation. On my return to Aberdeen I spent over a year modelling up Total’s MCP01 platform in 3D, something taken for granted nowadays, but this then had me hooked, never to return to the drawing board.Over the past 30+ years in the Oil & Gas Industry I have utilised most 3D Modelling packages on the market, AutoDesk Inventor, MicroStation, ProEngineer, Creo, Solidworks to name but a few. Combining this along with my knowledge of 3DS Max, Animations, Computer & Internet technologies, I have been fortunate enough, and had great pleasure, mixing this knowledge with my engineering knowledge, to the point of creating custom packages for companies I have worked for.To think, this all started out with a parallel motion drawing board!
