Short term contract overseeing the Arts and Events Team and Managing the delivery of the busy events season and gallery exibitions

Returned to substantive role after 2.5 years backfilling Events Team Leader position. Key achievements during my period as leading the team include:Successful budget bid to develop an integrated on-line events booking system that will allow customers to access concise information in regards to running an event in the Adelaide Park Lands, including road events.Initiated a new approach to staff training and professional development.Key contact for O-Bahn City Access Project / Festival Centre and Riverbank construction project.Project manager for the New Year's Eve in the City Major Event.Subject matter expert for the development of the new Adelaide Park Lands Events Management Plan Policy Document.

Team Leader Adelaide City Council Events Team.

Event Consultant managing a portfolio of events including, Tour Down Under, Australia Day in the City, Australian International 3 Day Event, Fringe Club, World Solar Challenge, Adelaide Festival of Arts.Inaugural member of the Splash Adelaide Place Making Team.Developed the successful Waymouth Street Party event by working with precinct businesses and arts agencies such as Adelaide Fringe and ACC Public Art.Devised and implemented a GPS plotting project for all event related infrastructure in the Park Lands.

Managed the Borough wide events program including developing a program of community events (Parks for Life) focussed on health and well being. Facilitated a major public arts urban regeneration community hub project in Dalston, working with UK and French arts agencies. Carried out the early planning and stakeholder engagement for the Olympic event presented by BBC Radio One - Hackney's Big Weekend. Increased events income by 300% through a review of park hire fees and a targeted strategy to attract more commercial activity with income supporting a stronger community events program. Chaired the Events Emergency Services Committee to ensure all major events felt appropriately with WHS and London Met Police Risk Management.Key achievements:• Project managed a brand new health and well-being series of festivals in London’s parks - ‘Parks for Life’. The success of this new initiative required extensive stakeholder engagement with the community, arts organizations, sporting clubs and internal council partners• Worked with high profile European arts organisations to install a community arts space in a derelict rail siding in an area of London undergoing urban renewal• Initiated the early planning and authority engagement for the BBC Radio 1 Hackney 2012 Weekend Olympic event at the Hackney Marshes. Included extensive planning with Radio 1 event producers and the UK’s largest festival producer Festival Republic. This included a behind the scenes day at Reading Festival with emergency services to observe the management and emergency procedures implemented for a large (90,000) music festival• Created template Event Management Plans and Risk Assessments documents with guidelines to help community event organisers plan and manage better events • Chaired the Hackney Events Safety Advisory Committee for a period of 2 years

Managed all events in Oxford parks and delivered a range of core Council led events throughout the year. Established strong working relationships with Universities, Colleges and cultural stakeholders to encourage a stronger cultural programme of events. Event planning included; production and management, communication with external and internal suppliers and contractors, overseeing licensing and legal compliance of internal and external events.Key achievements: • Initiated a system to streamline the event application process to ensure all stakeholder communication was timely and clear.• Produced a new event concept and theme to launch the Christmas season in Oxford. The event was a large multi-faceted arts event held in the center of Oxford. The event received a great deal of praise and positive press coverage• Established strong links with key arts agencies, community groups and private enterprise to foster further event development in the City of Oxford• Established a protocol procedure between the City and Oxford University for the staging and scheduling of events in the City Centre. This was in response to numerous issues relating to events being staged during sensitive University exam and graduation periods

Responsible for all aspects of destination marketing and the organisation of high profile events, both internally and externally managed. Key achievements:• Producing and managing a variety of events, ranging from major events to smaller community events • Formal meetings with high-level politicians (eg. Australia’s Foreign Affairs Minister) to lobby for regional tourism infrastructure projects and with local businesses to achieve leveraging sponsorship for events• Managing logistical issues, risk management, emergency response planning, crowd control, parking, volunteers, signage and licensing issues of the organised events in Victor Harbor, successful application of liquor licences and ensuring compliance with Australian liquor licence regulations• Development of sponsorship packages to leverage business support for a number of events • Management of an annual budget of approximately $250,000 AUD• Tour Down Under Stage 3 Finish (7,500 – 10,000 visitors): Australia’s Premier Cycle Race• Queen’s Baton Relay – Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games (3,000 visitors): This was a large multi faceted event that provided me with further experience in working with a number of external agencies to co-present a large-scale outdoor community events• Duyfken Sailing Ship visit to Victor Harbor (2,000 visitors): to commemorate the 400 years since the original Duyfken vessel first visited the Australian Coastline. Challenging location on small offshore island, successful event despite logistical difficulties• Launch of the Visitor Guide: I organised a large function at one of the resorts to launch the new guide. The project included coming-up with the launch theme, venue selection, contract negotiation, catering arrangements, speech writing and VIP coordination
