This was a period where I returned to the UK and worked with a team of people who were innovating and supporting our factories in USA and Germany. During this time I managed our pulp testing group.

I was promoted to look at process development and do the on site work for the new spinning machine which I had designed the prototype in Coventry. I had a small team of two US chemical engineers and we progressed a lot of projects together. This was a difficult period for the business as I had joined it at the end of a boom and since 1992 we were managing.

I ran a small team to look at innovation at Courtaulds Viscose Reseach. During this time I developed a new viscose spinnign technology. Unfortunately, due to secrecy it was not patented. But it is the most novel technology. At this time I led the the appraisal of environmental technology for the viscose process.

Was asssigned to design a sludge dewatering press and commission a CS2 recovery plant by oil absorption. The press was designed using a EPA manual. Probably the last time anyone has done a design by the book and in worked

Worked on a range of projects. Began my experience in evaportation technology and ventilation design.

Worked for Chris Brown on the Process Development, who was a great guy to work for. Enjoyed working on many projects without any management experienced. Best time professionally with a great team.

Work in Viscose Research and designed a Glaubers Salt Plastic Film Crystalliser. Worked on a new fibre line at the viscose factory at Grimsby. Looked into making disposible jets using lasers.
