Designed a two-step migration process which would allow old and new systems to run side by side for testing, ensuring a smooth transition and significantly reducing operational risk; loss of the baggage systems would be detrimental to the airports both in monetary and reputation terms. o Implemented a new sortation and baggage delivery system at Edinburgh airport. A thorough test and implementation plan was developed to satisfy the strict Department for Transport validation for tracking hold baggage and managing identified threats. An extremely complex and high security project delivered through an excellent supplier engagement. Engaged the software vendor to clearly define the management information and reporting requirements as well as demonstrate the capability of a similar system at another customer. o Worked with BAA Security Compliance and specialist suppliers to develop lower cost proposals for a perimeter intrusion detection system using high specification thermal imaging and fence detection as part of an airport move to full critical part status. o Delivered the common services for a new control post at Edinburgh airport, which included a new X-ray, body scanner, fibre network, and significant upgrade to the CCTV platform to cope with the additional security requirements. -
