Managed successful integration of finance and purchasing business systems and processes as part of a transformational business change project, employing strict fiscal controls to adhere with the phase 1 project budget.

o Delivery of a committed obligation to fit automated passenger counting (APC) systems to a legacy train fleet. Created the business case and managed the executive decision to develop an in-house reporting solution using complex algorithms and logic to determine actual passenger load and drive efficient capacity planning across the network.

o Programme management of a £6m mobile ticketing replacement for two train operating companies which included the risk assessment, regulatory compliance, acceptance testing, and deployment of over 1000 EPOS devices and the training of over 2000 operational staff. Implemented a controlled but time-critical rollout ahead of a contractual end date [Ref CS2]. o Managed the requirements specification and delivery of an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to multiple transport operators, providing ATS optimisation and automated process workflow to drive efficiency in staff recruitment and to better manage oversubscription for specific jobs.

o Initiated a £3m ERP replacement programme for Finance, Procurement, HR and Payroll. [Ref CS1] o Delivered multiple divestment projects to separate mission critical systems from Heathrow whilst retaining full operational status across the airports. This included: the separation of the operational baggage systems at the three airports; a document management transformation project to migrate content from multiple legacy EDRMS platforms; a content management transformation project to migrate Heathrow-based intranet to a new CMS.

o Leadership of a regulatory reporting project to define the requirements and deliver new reports for credit related activity. The project included a review of the general ledger to identify and reconcile regulated transactions, and the delivery of a FCA reporting platform. o Successful delivery of a series of remediation projects to address compliance issues relating to revised regulations governing consumer credit.

Delivery of an internal simplification programme to provide deeper integration between business areas and IT for the recording of business requirements and the development of technology solutions.

o Programme Manager for the preparation and delivery of the 111 service in Scotland. [Ref CS4] o Delivery of a new patient safety Incident Management System. Creation of a project workflow plan and configuration tracker to assist the development of eight business areas involving patient complaints, partner feedback, medico legal, child protection, freedom of information and clinical investigation. Managed the requirements definition and the specification of an interface for the extract, transfer and load of patient records from the CRM platform into Incident Management for investigation.

o Managed the initiation of a £4m Service Improvement Programme to migrate a 600-site network to a resilient and cost effective solution. [Ref CS3] o Project recovery and successful delivery of a Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) project that provided risk analysis and remediation across the Finance, Procurement, HR and Payroll landscape in SAP. Managed the successful change from contractor to specialist consultancy and remodelling of the project finance and delivery method from day rate to fixed price deliverables. Focussed the project on identifying ownership of risk within the business and implementing new user access policies, thus demonstrating effective control of highly sensitive data and transactions. Vulnerabilities and risks were remediated through the design, build and deployment of new clean user roles. o Planning for a new Content Management System including the application development and site content migration. Engaged the business leads in the restructuring and definition of new roles to transfer more ownership of site content to the business in the form of content managers and digital authors. Managed the procurement of a fully hosted cloud infrastructure and delivered a 40% reduction in operating costs which was achieved through contract negotiation, technology selection and encouraging innovation from suppliers and vendors.

o Delivered a £2m baggage control system for Edinburgh and Glasgow airports. Designed a two-step migration process which would allow old and new systems to run side by side for testing, ensuring a smooth transition and significantly reducing operational risk; loss of the baggage systems would be detrimental to the airports both in monetary and reputation terms. o Implemented a new sortation and baggage delivery system at Edinburgh airport. A thorough test and implementation plan was developed to satisfy the strict Department for Transport validation for tracking hold baggage and managing identified threats. An extremely complex and high security project delivered through an excellent supplier engagement. Engaged the software vendor to clearly define the management information and reporting requirements as well as demonstrate the capability of a similar system at another customer. o Worked with BAA Security Compliance and specialist suppliers to develop lower cost proposals for a perimeter intrusion detection system using high specification thermal imaging and fence detection as part of an airport move to full critical part status. o Delivered the common services for a new control post at Edinburgh airport, which included a new X-ray, body scanner, fibre network, and significant upgrade to the CCTV platform to cope with the additional security requirements.

Development of the integrated delivery plan for the consortium of five Scottish NHS boards, as well as the initial requirements definition for the national and local interfaces. Development of the delivery plan for the core patient administration system and additional modules, before transitioning the local planning and delivery to each of the project managers.

Senior Project Manager. Responsible for the successful and timely delivery of programmes and projects to financial services and other clients across the UK. Delivery of two programmes of work, each with subsets of dependant projects. o Managed the delivery of a £1m central services project for an education client as part of the Building Schools for the Future programme. Project delivered a new hosted data centre and centralised infrastructure to 15 schools over a new wide area network. Managed suppliers for infrastructure, application development and network services, together with the contract negotiation for the wide area network. The project incorporated the development of a learning portal as part of the largest SharePoint 2007 implementation in the UK. Strategic supplier change mid-way through the project forced major reorganization and re-planning. o Successfully led a programme of work at RBS that addressed key areas of audit, risk and compliance. Delivered a repeatable solution that would build a risk profile over time. Addressed stakeholder concerns about the lack of structure when carrying out audit and compliance checks that led to a reliable, repeatable compliance measuring process being applied. Delivered a Management Information portal and status dashboard for business stakeholders and Internal Audit to obtain current risk status and historical profiling of month-by-month and year-on-year improvement. o Managed an anti-money laundering (AML) project at RBS which involved the application migration and service transition of anti-money laundering systems from ABN Amro Bank to RBS. This was a technology-driven change so stakeholder management within the anti-money laundering business was essential. Applications were migrated to RBS data centres using a combination of lift & shift and build-ahead methods.

Project Manager (2004 – 2007), Lead Consultant (2000 – 2004). Planning and delivery of projects including infrastructure optimisation, service improvement and data centre relocation. o Substantial service improvement project for Airedale NHS. Management of own and third party teams to ensure integration of infrastructure and application layers. Supplier management on behalf of client was enhanced through strict governance and planning activity. Helped client achieve business objectives for improved system availability and data storage. Managed the engagement from inception through to closure, delivering the project on time and under budget. o Delivery of a £1m consolidation and transformation project for construction company Taylor Woodrow. Responsible for the product-based planning and initiation of the project. Designed an application migration process using individual test, development and pre-production environments to provide the ability to migrate data and test new versions of application without impacting the production systems. o Data centre consolidation and relocation project for global reinsurer QBE. Client was consolidating three remote data centres into a new purpose built facility in the City of London. Carried out a business application modelling exercise and determined the application dependencies. Created the master server relocation schedule, and planned for back-out and recovery using swing kit and gold stock. Over 600 infrastructure components supporting core applications and services were moved over four weekends with no interruption to business.
