I am a geotechnical engineer and engineering geologist with over 40 years experience with both consultants and contractors. A good part of those 40 years experience has been in New Zealand, and the remainder gained world-wide on every continent except South America. During that time I have worked on a vast range of projects, both small and large, using my combined geotechnical engineering and engineering geology skills, experience and knowledge.With the varied experience gained during my career I am able to advise on a wide range of projects and technical areas, My combined geotechnical and geological qualifications and experience means that I'm able to truly understand the geological issues that underpin geotechnical and civil engineering projects. Equally, my work with both consultants and contractors allows me to see the practical aspects of design and construction. I have also put those attributes and knowledge to good use in peer review, mediation and expert witness work for a variety of private and public sector clients.In addition to my technical skills, I have managed project teams and technical groups throughout my career. That management role has extended into contract project management, including formal Engineer to the Contract appointments, My people skills are currently being put to use in mentoring junior staff and supporting the H&S processes and systems within Tonkin & Taylor.I welcome challenging work, so if you are interested in making use of my skills and knowledge then please feel free to contact me.
