In June 2007 I was appointed as Editor of the monthly Edgars Club Magazine, South Africa’s biggest fashion and beauty magazine. Soon I was promoted to Group Editor of the Edgars business unit, with my main responsibility being editing the Edgars Club Magazine. My duties included editorial strategy and management and client service across the business unit.

For a period of nine months (from April to December 2008), I acted as Publisher and Group Editor of the Edgars business unit. In this position I was responsible for all the Edgars-related publications, at that stage including the Edgars Club Magazine (monthly), Off-Limits (bi-monthly teen magazine), Growing Up (bi-annual baby magalogue) and the Boardmans.

I started a company, Day&Night Media (Pty) Ltd, with a friend. We shared a vision of establishing a brand of information for visitors to the Cape that is reliable, comprehensive and easy to access. Thus, we started publishing a monthly events and entertainment guide, Day&Night, and distributed it to all tourist-information centres in the Cape Peninsula.

Taiwan

I taught English to children between the ages of two and 16 at a language school in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. I improved my verbal communication, public-speaking skills and ability to adapt, and got to know myself, and my roots, in a foreign situation. My duties included teaching reading, writing, speaking and listening skills, curriculum development, lesson.
