For most of my life I’ve been telling stories. The mediums and messages have been diverse, but the motivation pretty constant: to enlighten, entertain or elicit a meaningful reaction.I've been around the content marketing block a few times. My roots are in magazine publishing, but over the years my portfolio grew to offer marketing services and content across a variety of platforms. In 2020 I co-founded 2Stories.Imagine a traditional content marketing agency. Get the idea? 2Stories is not that. We are a new genre. Think smaller and more agile, with way more flex appeal – but with big-agency experience. We speak, write, strategise, conceptualise, plan, direct and produce content-led marketing fluently. We work with a distributed network of talented advertising and content specialists of all shapes, sizes, races and genders. We shared a vision of establishing a brand of information for visitors to the Cape that is reliable, comprehensive and easy to access. Thus, we started publishing a monthly events and entertainment guide, Day&Night, and distributed it to all tourist-information centres in the Cape Peninsula, Winelands and Helderberg areas, and to selected hotels. We worked closely with Cape Town Tourism, who used our publication as their official entertainment guide. Day&Night was extremely popular with tourism service providers, tour operators and tourists. However, we realised that the success of the publication was dependant on backing from an established publishing company. We started negotiations with New Media Publishing in August 2002, and I later joined them as Listings Editor on Citylife – a monthly events and entertainment magazine – for which my database of connections and content on Cape Town’s events was invaluable.
