Some of my highlights over the past 10 years:- Became a specialist in class society rules and calculations for ships with ice class.- Made many strength and fatigue calculations, both analytical and FEA, for all components in a thruster's drive line.- Learned to use and repair an advanced 3D printer with a bit of trial and a lot of error.- Became a CAD and PLM systems administrator, with a steep learning curve.- Wrote hundreds of short posts on internal company blogs about new technologies and Industry 4.0.- Wrote detailed wiki pages about how to use CATIA and other instructions.- Been to 2 of the largest shipyards in the world and aboard a shuttle tanker for installation and service work.- Managed a major development project for a new product.- Introduced the office to Lego as a form of rapid prototyping.- Learned about Design Thinking.- Learned about design for AM ( additive manufacturing), part suitability for AM, generative design, topology optimization and integration with VR, AR and IoT.
