Director, Development And Strategic Partnerships

Current

Washington Dc-Baltimore Area

In 2023, I increased NASTAD's sponsorship revenue by 39%. I accomplished this by revamping NASTAD's annual sponsorship prospectus to maximize sponsor benefits based on stakeholder feedback, and securing new contracts. I am responsible for identifying, developing, and securing both federal and non-federal funding to support NASTAD’s mission and its program, policy and overall operations. This includes: securing funding to increase NASTAD’s national impact; managing funder reporting; working alongside executive leadership, program leads, and our Board of Directors to reimagine potential revenue generating opportunities and assess NASTAD’s contributions to funder priorities; identifying and negotiating strategic partnerships; taking the lead on preparing and packaging proposals and projects for government, foundations, and corporate/private funders; and stewarding relationships with corporate/private funders. In 2024, I was elected to serve as the Chair of the Southern AIDS Coalition Board of Directors.

May 2022 - Present

Director, Prevention

Washington Dc-Baltimore Area

I directed a $1.5M CDC cooperative agreement focused on strategic partnerships and technical assistance for state and local health departments funded through the federal "Ending the HIV Epidemic" initiative. This entailed cultivating relationships with federal, national, and community-based stakeholders; managing multiple contracts with organizations that address community needs; developing, leading, and evaluating a multi-faceted work plan; and supervising a cross-functional team of program managers. Additionally, I strategically partnered with NASTAD’s hepatitis and drug user health teams to drive visibility of integrating hepatitis elimination into EHE efforts. In 2021, I was elected to serve as the Vice Chair for the Southern AIDS Coalition Board of Directors.

Associate Director/Wellness Coordinator Of Waves (Wellness, Alcohol & Violence Education & Services)

Fairfax, Va

WAVES (Wellness, Alcohol and Violence Education and Services) functioned as George Mason University's health promotion office. I served as the Associate Director and Wellness Coordinator for WAVES. In this capacity, I led campus-wide educational programming on sexual and reproductive health, stress management and nutrition for about 5,000 students per year through large gatherings, small-scale gatherings, and one-on-one counseling. To assist in this effort, I recruited, trained, and supervised 25 volunteer Peer Health Educators who were responsible for conducting five presentations and fifteen volunteer hours each per semester. Most notably, I developed and managed George Mason University’s free rapid HIV testing program which included creating protocols, training and supervising staff, procuring materials, quality control, and liaising with Student Health Services, OraSure HIV Technology, and the local health department.

Sep 2012 - Jul 2016

Hiv Health Educator

Springfield, Va

As an HIV Health Educator, I led the overall development and implementation of HIV rapid testing in the Inova Alexandria Emergency Department (ED). I made strategic decisions to assess the needs of the ED to enable rapid testing without interrupting the flow of care. As the sole tester, I developed evidence-based protocols regarding rapid testing procedures, collaborated with the local health department to ensure follow-up confirmatory testing, and created/maintained data templates to track testing statistics. Once an efficient HIV rapid testing system was secure, I trained two testers to fulfill this capacity. My role also consisted of conducting HIV-related trainings for healthcare professionals in Northern and Northwestern Virginia via the Pennsylvania/MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center, and providing consultation and technical assistance for HIV rapid testing as requested by the Virginia Department of Health. Additionally, I collaborated with the Northern Virginia Clergy Council for the Prevention of HIV/AIDS to provide HIV education in faith-based communities through annual summits and commemorations of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.Lastly, I organized and moderated meetings for constituents to advocate with Virginia senators and members of congress regarding healthcare issues that affect people living with HIV including funding for AIDS Drug Assistance Programs and the President’s National HIV/AIDS Strategy.

Couples' Voluntary Counseling And Testing Coordinator

Lusaka, Zambia

In Lusaka, Zambia, I served as a Couples’ Voluntary Counseling and Testing (CVCT) Coordinator for the Rwanda Zambia HIV Research Group. In this role, I co-managed 11 CVCT HIV prevention centers; six of which were co-created under my leadership. In opening new clinics, I assessed areas of the community in which a CVCT center would prosper, facilitated collaborative partnerships with community organizations and health officials, planned all health education and promotional activities pertaining to CVCT, and conducted an ongoing evaluation process of existing clinics.

Program Evaluation Intern

Atlanta, Ga

During my MPH program, I interned at SisterLove, Inc. -- the first women’s HIV/AIDS and Reproductive Justice organization in the southeastern United States. In this role, I evaluated an HIV prevention workshop focusing on reproductive health in women of African descent in Atlanta, GA. I tracked 420 participants to enforce retention, maintained program records, and administered quantitative, 178-item survey questionnaires at three- and six-month follow-ups. Additionally, I developed data entry templates, entered and analyzed data using SPSS, and transcribed and analyzed qualitative focus group data using MaxQDA.My work informed my master's thesis: "SisterLove, Inc.’s Healthy Love Party – A Program Evaluation of Facilitator Protocol Adherence and Participant Satisfaction of a Community Based Organization’s Gender- and Ethnic-Specific HIV Intervention"
