I teach in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at TCU. My professional focus is as follows:✔ Creative and innovative next generation sociology instructor and author.✔ Areas of specialization include general sociology, sociology of food, and social weddings.✔ Pioneering pedagogical and instructional design.✔ Student engagement and mentor focused.My teaching experience includes Introductory Sociology, Social Problems, Marriage and Family, Sociology of Weddings, Sociology of Food, Classical Theory, Research Methods and a Freshman Seminar on Popular Culture. I advocate a combination of active and cooperative learning that includes student presentations and group work activities. I have found this method of teaching is most effective because it gets students involved in the learning process as opposed to being passive recipients of lecture material. By applying what we are learning in class to what is happening in the world I hope to demonstrate to students that sociology is a vibrant discipline.
