Born in 1965, I have attended the University of Pisa, achieving the degree in Aeronautical Engineering in 1993. I started my professional career in 1994 with the Research and Development Department at Registro Italiano Navale. Since then I have been working on different research activities in the area of computational fluid-dynamics, risk analyses, structural dynamics, machinery dynamics, and lately, in resolving complex noise and vibration harshness (NVH) issues on board of vessels. From beginning, I have been involved in research projects whose principal objectives were to propose a rationalisation of numerical modelling and methodologies for safety assessment and optimisation in marine field. The experience gathered with experimental investigation as well as on numerical simulation, prepared me to join the research staff of the Naval Business Department, early in 2000. Since then I have been involved in the development of structural analysis and new rules development for the classification activities of naval vessels, where I became familiar with FEM, CFD and SEA calculations (software codes: MSC Patran, Nastran, Mentat, Marc, Dytran, VA One).In parallel, an intense experimental test activity with noise and vibration measurements both for design validation and comfort assessment has been developed on-board of numerous passenger ships, merchant ships, supply vessels and mega-yachts.Current activities include management of projects with experimental measurements and computational analysis as: - no-linear static and dynamic structural analysis (ultimate structural strenght, impact, vibrations, shaft line whirling), - fluid-structure interaction (slamming, whipping, sloshing and propellers characterisation), - machinery monitoring - noise and vibration controlin order to provide a technical consultancy service to reccomending engineering solutions that meet the clients needs and ensure compliance with the requirements.
Listed skills include Noise And Vibration, Finite Element Method, Fluid Structure Interaction, Noise Control, and 38 others.

Since 1999, I have developed non-linear finite element analysis (MSC-MARC) to evaluate:- the ultimate strength of ship structures,- thermal-mechanic deformation and stresses of large structural barrier under fire loads, and with MSC- NASTRAN Patran: - strenght calculation of ship structures, - pressure vessel - global dynamic analysis to evaluate the vibration levels of passenger ships induced by the main exciting sources, such as:• propeller pressure pulses,• bearing forces,• engine foundation forcesIn parallel a research activity of dynamic structural analysis and an intense test activity with noise and vibration measurements both for design validation and comfort assessment has been developed on-board of numerous passenger ships, merchant ships, supply vessels and mega-yacht.Current activities include applications in the following fields: no-linear static and dynamic structural analysis (structural vibration, shaft line whirling), fluid-structure interaction (slamming, whipping, sloshing analyses and noise propagation), machinery monitoring based on vibration and structural borne and airborne noise prognosis with SEA methodology.Solve noise and vibration (NVH) issues on board of vessels for COMFORT

- worked within the CEC founded project “EUROSLOSH”: the main aim of the project was to develop a specific computational fluid dynamics code to evaluate dynamic and impulsive loads in case of resonant liquid motions inside ship’s bulks. The performed activity resulted in the analysis of the fluid dynamic code and its applicability in the context of fluid structure interaction computation by means of the finite element methods.- worked within the CEC founded project “OFSOS”, the principal objectives of the project were to propose a rationalisation of the fire safety management of offshore installations and to develop a methodology for assessment and optimisation of fire safety. Efforts were concentrated on scientific and computational advancement of key ingredients of fire safety, such as:• application of methods for the consequence analysis and risk assessment to topside structures and system layout to identify dominant hazard scenarios,• modeling of fire and blast scenarios,• modeling of temperature distribution inside structural components,• modeling of non-linear structural response under thermal loading,• development of a probabilistic strategy for safety assessment of topside structures under time dependent fire and blast loadingThe experience gathered during the OFSOS project especially in the field of fire risk as well as on numerical simulation, I'm been involved in the development of a trial application of the fire risk analysis to a passenger ships. An application has been presented to the International Fire Conference. In 1997, carried out different thermal/mechanical structural analysis by means of the finite element method to develop a methodology for the numerical simulation of standard fire test to evaluate the endurance fire integrity of barrier. The developed methodology aim to perform numerical fire test to evaluate the equivalence performance of passive fire protection with different design solution.
