Educator & Teach For America Corps MemberSherman Elementary School Jun 2007 - Jun 2009I taught 5th grade science to 150 incredible English Language Learners, and felt deeply privileged to have led them to achieve historic academic gains: 93% passing rate on state exam as a first-year teacher; 97% passing rate on state exam as a second-year teacher; 73% of students earned a perfect or near-perfect score on state exam. I was honored with the "ESL Teacher of the Year Award" as a second-year teacher. In partnership with my grade level team, I raised $5,000 to take all 5th graders on end-of-year trip to Six Flags San Antonio.
