The Outward Bound Trust is an educational charity offering residential outdoor learning courses for young people, with almost 70% of all participants supported by an Outward Bound bursary. Operating in some of the UK’s most extraordinary and wild environments, every one of our courses is designed to meet the national priorities set out in the Curriculum for Excellence. My role at the Outward Bound Trust is about connecting with education providers at all levels to design courses that are as impactful as possible for their young people. I act as the link between our delivery teams and the needs of the young people. It is about making their course as relevant and memorable as possible, oh and also an enjoyable learning experience! A primary focus of what we do is to help young people realise they are capable of more than they think and to connect them to each other and the environment.We have an award winning fundraising team that helps by raising education bursaries to support young people to access our experiences. I can help with funding advice and how you can access this support. We currently work with 6,500 young people aged 10-24 years old in Scotland and our aim in the next five years is to increase this to 10,000.
