I charged in to my university undergraduate program thinking I was going to leave in four years with everything I needed to be a meteorologist. However, nothing worth having is ever a simple, straight path. Along the way, I became interested in a bigger picture: climate and climate change. In my final year of school I completed two major projects. First, I worked with a group of fellow students to create the foundations of a climate change/ environmental stewardship awareness training module to be distributed across a municipal organization. Secondly, I independently completed a research project where I used an urban climate model to model the impacts of street trees in urban neighbourhoods. Both of these projects allowed me to refine my technical writing skills as well as my presenting skills to lay audiences. Most of my previous jobs have been doing hard work outdoors in the heat and rain. However, I do have experience working in an office setting crunching numbers and answering phones. In the summer I enjoy gardening, which I blame on working on a farm for a summer. In the winter I am often found curling. I enjoy this sport so much that I worked at a curling club cleaning ice for a couple of years in high school. Again, paths in life are never simple or straightforward.
