I finished my Master’s Degree at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Eötvös Loránd University specializing in Cell-, and Developmental Biology. Until now I have been working in four different research groups and in each of them I faithfully followed my original focus of interest, looking at cells originating from the animal kingdom. In the field of cell cultivation I learnt the fundamental approach in the laboratory of Prof. E. Madarász (Eötvös Loránd University, later Inst. of Experimental Medicine). There we studied the differentiation of a neuroectodermal derived immortalized cell line. During my PhD studies - under the supervision of Prof. G. Wiche (Univ. of Vienna) - I examined the role of the cytolinker plectin and its isoforms with the help of different knock-out mice models, in vitro mainly on muscle cells. The international environment which surrounded me during those five years still defines my cooperative attitude towards research. In Budapest I turned back to the world of neurons. In the laboratory of Prof. Zs. Liposits (Inst. of Experimental Medicine) with Dr. B. Gereben as PI, I participated in the study of the regulation of thyroid hormones with the usage of different cell cultures. Presently I am working at the Research Centre for Natural Sciences in the group of Dr. L. Homolya, studying repolarization of primer hepatocytes. Having returned from Vienna I worked throughout at Institutes of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. My main motivators were commitment to my profession, and love towards research and potential of development. I was lucky enough to be able to return to the world of research after the birth of both my children. My area of interest and practical work still remained in the field of protein functions, their interactions and the genetic apparatus in the background.
