For UTNY I am currently teaching the course "URB 301 / GRG 307C: Introduction to Urban Studies" which fulfills undergraduate requirements for the Cultural Diversity (CD) flag, Social and Behavioral Sciences Core, Upper division GRG course for the Geography minor/major, required core course for the Urban Studies major, and a strand course for the Public Policy BDP certificate and the Smart Cities BDP certificate.

Curated by Dr. Nicole Fleetwood, Marking Time: Art in the Age of Mass Incarceration, explores the work of artists within US prisons and the centrality of incarceration to contemporary art and culture. Featuring art made by people in prisons and work by nonincarcerated artists concerned with state repression, erasure, and imprisonment, Marking Time has exhibited at MoMA PS1 and the Abroms-Engel Institute for the Visual Arts at University of Alabama at Birmingham.

I teach in the departments of Social and Cultural Analysis and the Gallatin School of Individualized Study. The Civil Rights Foundation will bring to life the Museum of Civil Rights in Harlem, a landmark institution to deepen and broaden the nation’s collective memory of the modern Civil Rights Movement. As an oral history fellow, I developed an oral history manual for the museum that included a civil rights oral history database, programming recommendations, potential collaborations, and an oral history guide.

The Museum Education Practicum provides an in-depth look at museum education from the guidance of the Studio Museum’s knowledgeable educators. This course is designed to provide emerging museum and arts educators with an intensive training program. The curriculum includes seminars, professional talks, presentations and opportunities to learn about our education programs. Through this program I gained firsthand experience facilitating and developing tactics and strategies that deal with adult, school, youth and family audiences. While exploring both theory and practice, participants will enter into a very specific conversation around artists of African descent, contemporary art practice and programmatic strategies.

Co-organized Telluride Association Sophomore Seminars (TASS) in Summer 2018 which included serving as a teaching assistant, writing tutor, academic counselor, resident assistant, and other roles to foster the development of a critical Black and ethnic studies community with twenty eight rising high school juniors of color. The seminar I served as a teaching assistant for was Shades of Blackness: Exploring Race, Gender, and Sexuality in the African Diaspora through Performance, Film, Music, and Art, taught by Dr. Marlon M. Bailey, Arizona State University, and Dr. John Thabiti Willis, Carleton College.

The Outreach, Communications, & Alumni Specialist oversees and is responsible for development andcommunications projects, with the particular focus on outreach, visual communication, alumnirelations and marketing. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Outreach: Develop and implement annual outreach plan in line with organizational objectives and UW’s Race & Equity initiative; Develop and maintain a strong network of on and off-campus collaborative partners todesign outreach strategies and support networks for minority students; Attend relevant community meetings, trainings, participate in relevant councils, roundtablesand committees to build collaborative, strategic outreach plan; Actively recruit students and teachers for all Center Programs; Build and maintain positive relationships with RC stakeholders; Schedule outreach events and strategies with schools and organizations within thecommunity;Communications: Build and maintain a vibrant public image and connection with the community; Design layout of various internal and external print materials conveying aconsistent message and image of the Center; Produce and edit video and photography content  Review and edit print and digital material prepared by staff for accuracy of information andadherence to design standards; Research trends and developments and recommend strategies in new media. Alumni Relations: Plan and coordinate annual and occasional events on campus to nurture connections among our alumni and to strengthen ties between alumni and the Robinson Center; Cultivate strong working relationships across the University with administrative offices,academic departments and off-campus sites in order to better reach, serve, understand andengage alumni (and future alumni);coordinate advancement projects and events; Contribute alumni content through newsletters, the website, and social media; Cultivate increased support from alumni;

Coordinating the needs and issues of the After-Class Program with the Assistant Principal Supervision of teaching aides

Provided caring support to both current Robinson Center students and families as well as prospective students and families. Successfully coordinated logistics-heavy outreach and student services events. Led the Transition School’s Experiential Kinetics course, supervising a Teaching Aide and investing students in the curriculum. Co-led and participated in the curriculum development for the Transition School’s UW 101 course and the EEP/ACAD Bridge Program. Provided excellent communication and service towards both internal and external customers. Maintained a social media presence for the RC on the following platforms: Wordpress, Facebook, Tumblr, & Twitter.

Collaborated with two interns in producing the memoir of Elmer Dixon, co­founder ofSeattle’s Black Panther Party. Tasks include: writing, editing, research, grant writing, interviews, transcribing of audio recordings. (Manuscript in Progress)

Project Coordinator (Social & Multimedia)- Assist in maintaining a social media presence for UW HFS through new media- Produce and edit video content for use in a variety of contexts (web, slideshows, social media, etc.) - Create and edit photography for communications strategy - Photograph and post updates on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram - Develop and manage contests to engage students with various social media platforms - Communicate the voice of HFS Residents through the HFS website and new media- Develop and manage a calendar of events and programs to attend - Research trends and developments and recommend strategies in new media

Undergraduate linked seminar to Professor Lawson’s course Geography of Poverty & Care (GEOG 331). Collaborated with two undergraduate students to develop syllabus and overall course structure, including weekly course practicum and reading lists; met with students upon request.
